Aziz Ansari to tape a Netflix special at State Theatre New Jersey on 29 October
The New Brunswick theatre has two shows of Ansari's Hypothetical Tour on sale for 29 October 2026, both billed as the taping of a Netflix stand-up special.

Aziz Ansari will tape a Netflix stand-up special at State Theatre New Jersey in New Brunswick on 29 October 2026. The theatre lists two performances of his new show, Aziz Ansari: Hypothetical Tour, that night, at 7pm and 9.30pm, and bills both as a Netflix special taping.
The venue marks the date as just announced. Tickets are on sale through the theatre, which describes both shows as having limited availability and allows no more than eight tickets per order.
What has been confirmed
The theatre's listing, which TheaterMania carries in the same words, confirms the date, the two show times, the venue at 15 Livingston Avenue and the Netflix taping. It gives no title for the special and no date for its release on the service.
The listing also sets out the record Ansari brings to the night. He co-created, writes, directs and stars in the Netflix series Master of None, which won him two Emmys for comedy writing, and he is described as one of the few headlining comedians ever to sell out Madison Square Garden. His 2019 Netflix special Right Now was directed by Spike Jonze and earned a Grammy nomination, and his latest hour, Nightclub Comedian, is streaming on Netflix.
He has also been working behind the camera: he wrote and directed the film Good Fortune, in which he co-starred with Keanu Reeves and Seth Rogen.
A tour date sold as an event
The special is being recorded on a night of the tour it is named after, rather than at a one-off event. By putting Netflix on the listing, the theatre is selling the date as the night the special is filmed, not as an ordinary stop on the tour.
Two shows on one evening double the number of people who can be in the room for the taping, and give the production two performances of the same hour.
What it means for acts
An act preparing to film an hour can follow the same pattern: tape the show the tour has been built around, and say plainly on the listing that the night is being filmed for a named platform. Two shows on the taping night give the edit a second performance and twice the audience. Managers should agree with the venue early how the night is billed and how many tickets each buyer may take, so that the seats go to fans rather than resellers.
